Dr. Underwood was born and raised right here in Knoxville. He went to medical school and did his internal medicine residency at the University of Tennessee. He fulfilled his cardiology fellowship training at the University of Michigan. He has been in cardiology practice in Knoxville since 1979 and performed one of the earliest coronary angioplasties in the city. He is a highly respected interventional cardiologist in the community, and former Chief of the Medical Staff at Park West Hospital. He has well surpassed his 25th anniversary of serving the cardiac needs of West Knoxville.
